Menston Gardeners' Club This year the Gardeners will have a day trip to Helmsley, with an open ending morning in Helmsley and then a visit to Wytherstone Gardens outside Helmsley. The date for the visit is Friday 25th June leaving by coach at 9.30 and returning for 17.00.
For the past 40 years, Lady Clarissa Collin has been creating a stunning garden at Wytherstone Gardens. Wytherstone house is the former vicarage, dating back to 1909, and had very little garden when Lady Clarissa arrived. Two uninteresting herbaceous borders where the Spring Garden now stands beneath the church bell tower and very little else, other than fields surrounding the house, greeted her after moving here from her family home at Nawton Towers...... more info. on the Wytherstone website. Then on Thursday July 8th, Menston Gardeners will make an evening visit to Millrace Nurseries at Garforth, leaving Menston at 18.00 in member's cars. The final evening visit this summer (hopefully!) will be to a member's own garden in Ilkley leaving Kirklands at 18.00 on Thursday August 5th. Further info. on these visits will be posted on the notice boards inside and outside the library. |
