This is the website of Menston, a village in Lower Wharfedale, Yorkshire. 

The site is designed to provide information to residents about what's happening in the village and a resource to find out about the services and facilities available locally.

The website has been built by the Menston Community Association (MCA) and is maintained by the MCA along with the Parish Council, which has a separate area of the website.

Cornerstone Cafe extends opening times

Cornerstone CafeIn addition to opening three days a week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00 to 14.00, Cornerstone Cafe is now open on Saturday morning from 10.00 to 12.00.  Cornerstone Cafe can be found at the Methodist Church on Main Street.

Menston residents can use Ellar Ghyll

The long running issue of Menston and Burley residents being turned away from the nearest waste recycling centre at Ellar Ghyll may be at an end.  Local MP Philip Davies says "I have taken up the issue about  the use of Ellar Ghyll for Bradford authority residents

World War One Memorial 

The coffee morning raised a welcome £431 and was an occasion for reflection by both relatives of the fallen as well as well wishers.

Judith Knaggs and Dale Smith would like volunteers for their committee to help steer the appeal and choice of memorial in the appropriate direction.

My name is Andrea Hardaker and I'm a reported with the Wharfedale Observer/Ilkley Gazette.

We are always looking for good stories from the Menston area and I'm appealing for locals to get in touch with me.

I do try to get round the village at least once a week to see what's happening but it's not always easy - I work part-time and deadlines are tight. I also try to attend the Neighbourhood Forums and am always willing to help out with local issues if possible.

Cricket Club Seeks Sponsors 

Menston Cricket Club is looking for sponsorship from local businesses. The club is fairly open as to how organisations promote their business at the club, but the main two options are 1. Match day ball sponsor £30 a week. 2. Pavilion (A4) sponsor £100 for the season.

First World War Memorial Appeal

Fifty men from Menston with Woodhead (Including those who were working at the Asylum) lost their lives in the First World War. To see the list of those who died click here.

It is proposed to commemorate them with a Memorial Stone alongside that of the existing Second World War Sandstone, which is situated outside Kirklands Community Hall, Menston.
