Community facilities

Much of the traditional community infrastructure has changed little over the last 100 years including the Parish and Methodist churches and the public houses. The more recent facilities provided by the Kirklands Community Centre, the Fairfax Club off Main Street and the 'Menstone Club' in Farnley Road are well used by the village. Cricket, football, bowls, tennis and badminton can be played in the village.

The village community is large enough to support a wide range of thriving voluntary groups many of which are based at the Kirklands Community Centre, which also houses the library, or at the Menston Primary School. The village is fortunate in having a purpose built doctor's surgery. The Scouts and Guides have their own hut on the edge of the park.

Cornerstone Café

Cornerstone is the new extension adjacent to Menston Methodist Church on Main Street. Whilst serving many purposes within the life of the church, it is open as a café three days a week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) from 10.00 to 14.00 and also on Saturday mornings 10.00 to 12.00. It is manned completely by volunteers drawn from many areas of village life and is open to the general public. Visitors to Cornerstone regularly enjoy the friendly atmosphere and excellent food that Cornerstone provides. Young mothers with toddlers, businessmen or tradesmen working in or passing through the village and older folks just wanting a chat are amongst the customers who use the facilities of Cornerstone on a regular basis. Whether calling for morning coffee or for a lunch-time snack, you can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
