Kirklands Community Centre

What does the future hold for Kirklands Community Centre?

Bradford Council is currently undertaking a consultation on their proposed budget cuts for 2017-18, 2018-19 and indicative budget plans to 2020-21, including those relating to the Public Halls Department.

The proposal by the Public Halls Department is to transfer as part of a Community Asset Transfer a number of public halls, including Menston’s Kirklands Community Centre, to be implemented in 2018/19. If a transfer is not successful, then the halls will be subject to a review and ‘may form part of future proposals’.

The consultation process will close on Sunday 12 February 2017 and all feedback will be used to help finalise the budget at a Council meeting on 23 February.

Feedback may be given by way of a budget survey form, which can be found at:

In the meantime, Menston Parish Council is working to gather as much information as possible about the financial implications of a Community Asset Transfer.

This issue will be the main agenda item at the Parish Council meeting on Thursday 26th January, which is open to the public to attend, at 7pm in Room 17 at Kirklands.
