Menston in Bloom

20/09/2014

Menston has been awarded a Silver Award at the annual Yorkshire In Bloom ceremony for 2014.
The award recognises the work done in the village not only by Menston In Bloom, but by all the groups who have worked so hard to improve the village and make it such a lovely place to live!

The judges who visited in the summer commented on the good work done at High Royds Cemetery and commended the work undertaken at the local churches as well as congratulating Meadowlea for all their efforts. They also noted how clean the village was and recognised the support and generosity of the residents and local businesses for the In Bloom group.
So thank you for all your support over the last year.

But our work continues!
We have lots of plans, which include planting more bulbs, refreshing and replanting some of the more established beds and the continued development of Butterfield Park.

Can you help?
Working sessions have been arranged for the following days:

Monday 29th Sept 9.30 - 12
13th Oct 9.30 - 12
27th Oct 9.30 - 12
Saturday 4th Oct 9.30 - 12
1st Nov 9.30 - 12

We meet outside Kirklands and would welcome anyone who can come help, even if it's just for an hour! No experience necessary - we will help you to learn a little about gardening if you want to!

Not a gardener? You can still get involved. We also need help with the administrative tasks, such as publicity and fundraising, so please do consider Menston In Bloom if you want to contribute a little bit of your (valuable) spare time to a community group.

If you would like more info please contact Rosemary and Quentin MacKenzie on 876625.
