Building Futures Programme

Yorkshire Housing have been awarded £5,000 from Unltd to work with young people aged 16-21 who wish to start a community business or social enterprise. We are matching the pot with £2,500 – which means we have £7,500 to help young people make a difference in their community. The awards will be broken down as follows: 5 x £500 Try It Awards – these are for those that have an idea and want to try it out and need a little bit of finance to get them started. 2 x £2,500 Do It Award - this will be awarded to the most promising social entrepreneur or group to get them to the next stage. They will also receive support from an Awards Manager from Unltd as well as our Enterprise Coaches. The award amounts are not necessarily set in stone, we are able to be flexible with these. This is only a 1 year project so we need to identify these individuals or small groups as soon as we can, our Enterprise Coaches will continue to support them past the project. We hope to launch this project soon, but if you have any enterprising Young People in your area please let me know. It would be great to come and out and meet you to discuss any potential referrals, and of course to tell you more about the project, and plan some localised events or workshops to engage with the young people and spark some interest – we are open to suggestions!
