Remembrance Day Commemoration

This year Remembrance Sunday is exactly 100 years since the Armistice was signed at Compeigne, France at 11am on 11th November 1918.

Organised by Menston Parish Council and the Menston churches, the service will include two minutes silence, the reading of the names of the men from Menston who died during the World Wars, wreaths will be laid and the 'Last Post' and 'Reveille' will be sounded.

The swathe of poppies created for the 2017 Echoes of War Festival weekend will be displayed.

This will take the place of the usual Remembrance Day services at St Johns and the Methodist Church.

Seating will be provided within Kirklands for those who do not wish to stand outside or if the weather is very inclement, and refreshments will be available.

All are welcome to assemble at 10.45am. Part of Main Street will be closed to traffic so there will be room for all.
